I’m always on the lookout for unique and versatile containers.  While browsing around the Elephant’s Trunk Flea Market, in New Milford, CT, I came upon this rustic beauty.  One look and oh my . . . the creative juices were flowing. And, for just $20.00 bucks?  No need to haggle.  No need to wrap.

The scale of this wooden box, about 6 feet in length, is just the right size for a variety of spots around Connecticut Country House.  Lovely positioned in the bay window, catching the afternoon sunlight.  Perfectly at home setting up residence on my old farmhouse table.  An unexpected place, one of my favorites, is resting on a perfectly worn, pigeon gray, 18th century wooden bench.  To dress it up a bit, I discreetly lined the box with plastic, popped in a collection of nursery 6-packs of mixed lettuce greens and . . . voila!  An instant shot of fresh, beautiful color for indoors now, and a lovely place to stage the plants until ready to plant outdoors.  I can’t wait until my next trip to the nursery so that I can scout out another lineup of beautiful players!

Happy decorating!

Love, Nora
