When arranging accessories, it’s important to step back and take an overall look at “the big picture”. While styling the back entryway, I wanted something Spring-y to welcome all who entered. Forsythia. A big bunch of tall, free form branches arranged in a sleek, modern glass vase was just what the area needed. Placed offset, on top of the chest, with a pair of large, framed insect engravings on the wall behind, it was looking pretty good. Stepping back revealed that it still needed something. The addition of a tall vintage fishing rod and a rake, tucked into the corner, provided the height needed to counterbalance the large scale of the arrangement.

Have fun. Play with forms. Trust your eye. As in life, it’s all a balancing act.

Happy styling!

Love, Nora

Thanks for the inspiration, + isn’t it the most fun, ever — rearranging one’s “stuff”?
