One of the many things that I love about living in Connecticut, are the noticeable month-to-month changes.

Plants that were set and seeds that were planted, seemingly like it was yesterday, are now supplying us with a gratifying abundance of fresh produce.

A step outside on a hot, humid August day and I’m greeted by the music of cicadas. I am lulled to sleep at night by a serenade of crickets and katydids. These sounds, as a kid without care or the aid of a calendar, reminded me that I’d be heading back to school in a few short weeks. As a wife and mother, they remind me to squeeze every second of family time out of the month before Conor heads back to college and Murph goes back to teach.

August is here. I will appreciate every moment, every change and everything it has to offer because next month will be different.

Happy August!
