For me there’s nothing more honest and authentic than the weathered, timeworn quality of country baskets. There’s a wonderful sense of comfort in living with the old splint, distressed paint, and just plain old imperfections of these humble containers that were once used on a daily basis in everyday life. There was nothing decorative about them back then. But now, there is.

A pair of antique apple baskets in worn barn red paint holds my collections of utensils we use daily and proudly takes its place right next to my imposing industrial stainless steel stove. (I love how these humble pieces really hold their own!) So I guess you can say that I’m using these pieces on a daily basis in my everyday life, but also loving them for the color, form, and personality they add to my country kitchen.

Happy decorating!

Love, Nora
