A Holiday Mix
Plain and fancy, plaids and stripes – pretty wrapping is like getting a gift twice! Kraft, plaid, and striped papers are a staple and, just like coordinating fabrics in a room, I love to mix patterns, colors, and scales in a theme. My tip: Keep an eye out for special papers all year. The hunt pays off!
Essential gift-wrapping elements include: liners, fillers, and ties. Keep these basics on hand and your wrapping will never be the “same old” again! For me, the staples are white tissue, white crinkle paper filler, and raffia in lots of colors.
I also love using sweet tartan ribbons in any color, width, or fabric. For something unexpected, I’ll mix two or three tartans on one package. It’s decidedly dressy and cheerfully quirky at the same time. I like to call this my “crazy quilt” combo.
My finishing touch? Freshly cut sprigs of fragrant balsam, long-lasting boxwood, or beautiful glossy green, red-berried holly tucked into the bow. This touch appeals to the senses and gives packages a lovely, natural element.
And of course, I love pretty gift tags that work beautifully with my papers. We created all the tags that you see in the photos, and you can download them here….my gift to you! Enjoy!
Happy wrapping!
Love, Nora
Lovely and festive Nora! We seem to have the same taste in gift wrap and ribbons. My stash is astonishingly similar. ?
Love your look, gift wrapping is an art and I would love to know some of your sources for paper and ribbons.
Hi Barbara!
Believe it or not, that stash of papers and ribbons is from TJ Maxx & Home Goods! I just keep my eyes out for good papers and ribbons all year long….but you can still find good papaers and ribbons at both places!
Thanks very much Barbara, and Happy Hunting! Love, Nora
Wonderful wrapping ideas Nora- thanks a bunch!

Nora — Just love your gift tags — did you create them? They are the perfect complement to your wrapping and ribbons-
Love all those plaids mixed together! And, the gift tags are terrific. Are they your personal design?

Always love the plaids! My husband has the devastating diagnosis of Glioblastoma, and I am tonight drowning in my sorrow trying to live in the present, hoping he has another precious Christmas memory with us. May sound cheesy, but live every precious moment of your life without taking it for granted. Every day becomes a gift. ❣️
Hi Cheryl
My heart breaks for you. Not cheesy at all…precious words to live by. Sending you my love, Nora xo
