Every year, I deck out my chandeliers for Christmas with big boughs of freshly cut balsam.

Armed with my trusty Felco pruning shears, I head out to the back woods and snip just a couple of branches.

Once I’ve finished draping the greenery, and have tucked in a few battery powered ‘Stargazer’ lights from Terrain, my faves for a bit of glitz, I stand back, admiring my handiwork. Grinning from ear to ear, I think to myself, well, that was ridiculously easy Nora Murphy!

For an easy way to add a whole lot of beautiful holiday impact without breaking a sweat – or the bank – give it a try!

Happy decorating!

Love, Nora

Thank you for your diligence in posting during this busy blessed season. My husband and I made our first trip to Connecticut in September and we fell in love with your state. Some dear friends invited us to stay in their old family home for a few days. It was heaven. We followed that sweet time with a trip to the Inn at Stonnington. A very special trip.

I love this! What can I do to cover an ugly builder’s grade hanging light fixture? It has a glass shade, so I’m wondering how I’d drape greenery on it.

Hi Mataoka! Thanks for your comment and question. Not seeing what your light looks like, makes it difficult for me to advise. This technique works best for lighting fixtures that have multiple arms.

      Merry Christmas! Love, Nora
