This is as authentic as it gets! The first time I opened this fabulous old wicker picnic basket (it even beautifully creaks as you open it) I could feel the sweet times that were had by all!
The basket includes 4 white enamel plates with blue painted edges, 6 white enamel cups and saucers, also with the blue finishing touch. 4 knives, 4 forks, 4 spoons, and 4 demitasse spoons – all stainless steel and look like they’ve never been used! Also found in 2 of the 5 main compartments are a lovely vintage Aladdin thermos with metal body and red single handled cup, and a sweet white porcelain jar with lid and its ancient leather strap!
Leather bands keep the plates in place and are also the hinges!
The exterior is a piece of art in itself…an old metal plate with the monogram, MLCD is affixed to the lid, AND the whole thing is held together with the most fabulous old leather man’s belt! (The belt buckle is the same finish as the monogrammed plaque – of course!) This is a true one of a kind treasure.
