Vintage Florentine-Style Hand Painted Tole Tray

Particularly beautiful. This stunning decorative vintage tole serving tray features an aged gold ground, dramatic black center, and richly painted fruit and foliage. Four abundant cornucopias of grapes, pears, apples, and leaves surround the central black reserve, accented by scrolling foliate decoration and small classical motifs. The warm gold ground has developed wonderful crackling, scratches, darkening, and surface wear, giving the tray the layered character of a well-loved decorative object. The octagonal form is finished with raised edges and integrated side handles, making the tray as sculptural displayed upright as it is attractive used on a table or ottoman.
