The Purple Breasted Blue Manakin

Color study. The deep Cobalt Blue set against the wine stained breast is what makes this Purple Breasted Blue Manakin so beautiful. These 2 colors dominate the hand engraved and hand colored, late 18th c/early 19th c. illustration. I decided to have it simply matted, and put into this gorgeous, yet understated, gilded antique frame. The result is just so beautiful.
