Rare find. My friend Barbara is a masterful collector of matelasse coverlets. This gorgeous vintage white cotton matelasse coverlet graced a guest room bed in her Nantucket home. This coverlet has the most beautiful woven raised motifs of day lilies, clematis, leaves, and fern fronds. The center has a magnificent large medallion made up of the like flowers as around the wide border, as well as graceful paisleys. The wide border is made up of a 7” diamond quilted motif and herringbone twill edge. This piece would make a beautiful bed covering or unique tablecloth. Love.
