Redding 18th c. Sugar Pot
Consider the container. I remember when I found this little 18th c. beauty at an antiques show in Redding, CT. It was a sweltering hot summer day, and just holding the pen properly to write out a check for it seemed quite laborious! (Crazy how we remember such random details!) But, no matter the heat, I had to go home with this beautiful hand painted sugar pot. The gracious oval shape, the handpainted berries and leaves, and lion heads! Eventhough it no longer had its lid, no matter – it would hold a small bouquet of flowers just so perfectly! And it did…and still does. Love.
