New England Quilt Square

The beauty in time worn pieces. I’ve cherished this gorgeously detailed handmade antique quilt square for quite a while, not knowing quite how to display it. Making it into a pillow would add more wear to a piece that is at its peak of perfect aging, so that was not an option. When I found this amazing old chippy 19th c. wood frame, with old gilding and fancy raised plaster filigree that has mostly chipped off, and has left the most wonderful chalky white hang up finish and texture, I knew it was the most perfect marriage! And the griege-hued antique feed sack background (instead of the standard paper mat) made it absolutely sublime.
