19th c. utilitarian elegance. I discovered a textile dealer’s space in one of my favorite antique centers in South Carolina. This dealer’s goods are primarily European. I found out that she lives in Germany, and mails a new box of textile goodies to the center every month (along with a box of chocolates for the ladies). This jacquard towel is from the late 19th c. Germany, and is quite generous in scale, 40”L x 16”W. Woven of flax linen with a lovely hand crocheted trim, a rich red embroidered ‘E Z’ monogram is stitched in one corner
