Chrysanthemum Creticum

$198.00

Beauty from the garden. Basilius Besler (1561–1629) was a respected Nuremberg apothecary and botanist, best known for his monumental florilegium, the Hortus Eystettensis (lit. The Garden at Eichstätt), 1613. Besler documented the Garden at Eichstatt via hand colored drawings. His work is among my very favorite! This Chrysanthemum is a 20th c. print of the 17th c. original. It is printed on a rag paper, matted with a linen double mat, and a painted frame with antique gold detailing. For nature lovers and gardeners, this is quite a lovely reproduction to own!
