Caledonia Tartanware Sewing Box

$68.00

I am a tartan lover. So when I discovered tartanware years ago, you can just imagine how elated I was! Tartanware is the name given to wood objects covered in tartan papers and sold as Scottish souvenirs. Scotland has always drawn tourists because of the natural beauty of the area. This Clark’s thread/sewing box is covered in Caledonia tartan paper with a decoupaged image that reads: Congress Spring and Park, Saratoga. Tiny holes with thread weights are found all around the box. Inside, 6 spool posts hold 3 very old spools of thread. The center compartment would have held a thimble.
Love this hardworking piece!
