Consider the butter bell. This time-honored thoughtful invention is made up of 2 parts: the bottom portion is the well, and the top is the bell. Fill the bell well with softened French butter, and then pour a little water into the well. When you turn the bell upside down and pop back into the well, the water gets displaced and keeps the jar sealed. Keep the jar out on the counter for soft butter every time!
