A Sailor’s Valentine

True love. This charming vintage heart-shaped keepsake box is the largest one I have ever seen…and with a beautiful back story! This truly was a Sailor’s Valentine. A Navy officer brought it back for his sweetheart (who he later married) in the late 1940’s. This rare find is richly embellished with natural seashells, and creates a romantic and nostalgic piece of coastal décor. The exterior is fully encrusted with a variety of shells arranged in dimensional floral and mosaic patterns, while the interior opens to reveal a divided velvety red finish and a small heart-shaped window inside the lid. Both decorative and functional, this piece is perfect for storing jewelry, keepsakes…or love letters.
