19th c. Snippets Sampler
One of my favorite pieces, this 19th c. sampler is a rare find. It is not a finished sampler, but that’s part of its charm! I fell in love with this sampler because of all the wonderful motifs (over 50!) that are embroidered into it: a dog on a cushion, playing cards, a horseman, a deer, a butterfly, anchors, flowers, acorns, even an American flag embroidered in glass beads – just to name a few! When I found this sampler it was not framed, so I married it to this 28” wood frame with a gilded filler frame and old glass. This unique piece is truly a work of art that’s filled with nostalgia and whimsy.
