A beautiful summertime entertaining moment is a vintage splatter ware tray filled with red, white, and blue Americana mugs set right down next to a pot of steaming hot clam chowder. I call it summer in a mug!

Well, these mugs are my newest “find” from Uno Alla Volta (means One At A Time), a Connecticut-based on-line retail company featuring handmade artisanal goods from around the world. Artisans in Boleslawiec, Poland, where they’ve been creating beautiful and functional folk art pottery for centuries, make these all-American mugs. Along with the rest of the collection, they are made with unique clay and glaze, and are high-fired to create stoneware pieces of enormous durability (oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe!). Each piece is hand-painted, so no two pieces are exactly alike. I love that.
