Vintage Hand Carved Wood Duck Decoy

All in the details. This beautiful vintage hand-carved wooden duck decoy features a warm natural finish and exceptionally detailed incised feather carving. The duck has a softly rounded, streamlined body with a long tapered bill and small inset glass eyes. Delicate carved lines define the head and face, while the wings are particularly well rendered with overlapping rows of individually incised feathers extending toward the tail. Rather than relying on painted plumage, the carver allowed the natural grain and warm tonal variation of the wood to become part of the design, giving the piece a wonderfully understated sculptural quality.
