A Pretty Party For Your Door
Petunias are my perennial favorite. This sweet and simple annual is a must-have at Connecticut Country House. I love their delicate flowers and bold, brilliant colors.
They’re pretty when tiny and potted up individually, as well as one big petunia hanging basket from my local nursery that I’ll pop into an over-scaled clay pot. But the size right in between is just perfect to snugly fit into a willow hanging door basket. The flower basket on The Coop (our Master Bedroom) door gets plenty of sun (petunias love full sun!), and every morning when I lift it off its old doornail, I give it a good drink of water, and let it drain on the ground.
To keep the blooms coming all summer long, I pull off the faded, droopy flowers every day (it’s really a habit I needed to get into to stay on top of it). This truly encourages good health and growth.
It’s not to late to decorate with petunias!
Love, Nora
Breath taking! Are these a new line of petunias? Not your MOTHER’s usual petunias. I have seen these on a lot of steps but didn’t know what they were. NOW the BIG question, is a source for your oversize baskets that can be used to hang these plants. HELP!!!!
Its so lovely, but I wonder if that is a door that is used regularly? I’m thinking that visiting bees might make it bother to have it on a door used as a main entrance to a home. For me, I could do it on our front door, as we and guests always come through the kitchen door.
I love the brand Picasso! Pink, blue, purple! Proven winners and are gorgeous!
Do you know who makes the lights? Thank you.
Walpole Woodworkers 🙂
Nora,
Could you “show” us the inside of the basket with the slightly larger clay pot. It is hard for me to visualize. I would like to know of a source for the beautiful basket.
Thanks!
