“Prince of Novelties” Geranium

$148.00

Garden study. I love geraniums – all varieties. And this beautiful specimen, Pelargonium (geranium) ‘Prince of Novelties’ is one I had never heard of. After a little research, I found that this lithograph came from a seed catalog that was published in 1859, by E. B. Henderson & Son, who had quite a large Horticultural establishment on Wellington Road, St. John’s Wood, London, England in the 1850’s. I love how bold and beautiful this geranium print is, and such thoughtful attention was given to the use of French matting (with hand scored pen lines), and a traditional frame molding with an old gold finish on the front and a deep charcoal on the sides. Just so beautiful.
