Mrs. Polly Jennings’ Garden Bouquet
A unique still life. This painting of a lovely hand picked bouquet of garden flowers in a green jar was painted in oil by Mrs. Polly Jennings, a 90-year-old artist. How do I know this, you may ask? Well, the beauty of this painting is not just the artwork itself (which it truly is!), it’s in the newspaper article that is glued to the back! The article recalls that when her husband passed away, she was desperate to support herself and started to paint. Her first one-woman show was at the age of 90! She donated all the proceeds from her show to Sloan Kettering, because she felt that as an amatuer she could not keep the money. God bless Mrs. Jennings.
