All seasons, my style and decorating starts at my doors. Better Connecticut’s Scot Haney stopped by Connecticut Country House to ‘talk fall door decor’ and help me put the finishing touches on both of my front doors (for the 1767 part of the house, and the 1857 Chicken Coop – our Master Bedroom). I always use what’s in season, and love creating something that will make people smile. Watch the video for all the details!

And please tune in today for Part 2 on Better Connecticut’s lifestyle segment (WFSB, Channel 3) for my take on creating a simple and sweet little outdoor retreat complete with a mini Halloween Wine & Spirit Bar!

Enjoy! Love, Nora

Thank you, Nora, for your inspiring video on decorating doors for Fall. I really like all of your ideas and they are not hard or expensive to do!

Nora, Your candles are headed my way!! I’m dreaming of cool weather, and I’ll be snuggled up with a warm spiked cider, with one of them burning in the room…Can’t wait! Congratulations on your shop opening! Linda

How do you secure the corn stalks? (so they stand up straight and don’t blow away!)

Hi Margaret! I simply tap a nail into the clapboard, tie the stalks with raffia, and loop raffia onto the nail. They still have a tendency to move with the wind a little, but do stay up straight no matter what. Hope this helps! Love, Nora
