We made it! Five country houses in five different states in five weekends! With every country house shoot, we traveled afar to thoughtfully capture each one’s beauty and loving care. As diverse as these homes are, regionally and decoratively, they have much in common. The Nora Murphy Country House Style of warm and welcoming, collected and comfortable, was found throughout.

Our little team consisting of an art director, photographer, photo assistant, and me ended up being a wonderful traveling family of 4. We drove, we flew, we stayed in many an AirBnB (all terrific!). We were well fed by our country house owners. And when we were out and about we dined in diners, pubs, and restaurants from Farm to Table to Mediterranean cuisine (all delicious!).

So now that our location shooting is completed, we have the very difficult task of going through all our photography and editing. Editing is not my strength. I love it all…I want to keep it all! Through this editing, we start to visually tell each country house’s story. Then our select images are uploaded to our publisher’s worksite, and the production starts.

Now it’s time to write. We truly want to do our best and do right by everyone. Only a few more weeks to go until everything is due to our publisher. I have a strong feeling that time will fly!

I wish to very much thank all our country house homeowners. You welcomed us into your homes with open arms. We are so blessed to have you as wonderful new friends. And I also wish to thank my amazing team. I love you guys dearly, and couldn’t imagine embarking on this enormous project without you.

Here’s to making this book the very best it can be!

Love, Nora

I really hope you have included some homes that reflect the average homeowner and not just higher income homes. One seldom sees the homes of talented truly middle income homeowners reflected in home decor books. Sometimes it is forgotten that it’s not just the wealthy who understand beautiful decor and design. I love to walk into a home decorated by talented homeowners who have used imagination and cleverness to create a welcoming, cozy, and beautiful environment while working within a modest budget. There are countless examples of this throughout the country that usually get ingnored in favor of higher end homes. Looking forward to see how you have included examples of these homes.
