May (Technicolor) Dreams Come True
I LOVE May in Connecticut! Everything looks like a Technicolor dream. Grass is a lush, vivid green. Emerging leaves on the trees are vibrant chartreuse. French lilacs just beginning to bloom are the deepest of darkest purples. Even the sun yellow fluffy manes of the dandelions in the yard are a wonderful sight for winter weary eyes. (Don’t tell Murph I said so!) I’m in my happy place and I’m amazed by the changes that each passing day brings. It. Is. Magical!
In addition to the wonderful transformations outside, there are a lot of other things going on this month.
WFSB-3’s Better Connecticut will be coming out to Connecticut Country House to shoot a couple of segments out in the garden. We’ll let you know when they air locally, and if you don’t get the station, don’t worry; we’ll post the videos on the blog as soon as we can.
My dear cousin from Hungary, a talented artist and antiques lover, is continuing her stay with us. I’m very happy that she’s here and hope to take her to the Greenfield Hill Dogwood Festival, in Fairfield, CT where I grew up. Held annually during Mother’s Day weekend, I just know she’ll be wowed by the glorious display of bright white and pink dogwoods in full, stunning, bloom! Also on our itinerary is hitting The Elephant’s Trunk Flea Market as often as we can, and bringing her to the season opening of The Brimfield Antique Show, which is May 9th through May 14th. Looking forward to seeing what there is to see and working up a thirst for some freshly squeezed lemonade!
This month I’ll also be going on a road trip to New Hampshire, visiting my dear friend Dana to shoot her new to her, old, country house for the upcoming book.
And, at some point, I’ll be sharing my favorite photos from the High Point Design Bloggers Tour. It was phenomenal!

You express yourself so eloquently. I feel the way you do about spring and all of the spectacular colors but I have never articulated it the way you did. Don’t forget the busy little house wrens who are as excited as we are to be out and about. Thanks for your cheerful message. Linda
