Back from our annual pilgrimage to our beloved Cape Cod – the place where our family really kicks back and relishes every minute of keeping it simple.  Lots of beach combing, kayaking, and just plain wandering around.  This year we wandered from our bungalow named Barnacle in Eastham, to the preppie village of Chatham, and then onto artsy Wellfleet and Provincetown. And as a die-hard gardener, the Cape’s gardens are always an inspiration.  I love the tiny antique Cape Cod style houses with their rose covered white picket fences as well as the old summer manses with their huge wrap around porches and manicured lawns defined by ancient boxwood hedges. Even the smallest shop in town pays a lot of attention to its landscaped front facade – even if it’s a single window box or Hydrangea shrub – it’s jam packed with jewel colored blooms. With iPhone in hand, we wandered from the heart of the villages to narrow tucked away lanes only to discover even more little gardening gems.  And then there’s the unexpected natural beauty growing wild in the sand dunes on the beach – hot pink Rosa Rugosas.  I think this one best describes my frame of mind on the Cape.

Sit back with some iced coffee and enjoy the tour!

The pictures are really beautiful, Nora. I wish you could go in the winter and take photos of the same places for contrast. Spring and Autumn too. I see a book in your future. xoxo
