My career is the story of my passion for interior design, classics, and great new ideas, starting with my studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, where I earned my degree, and learned to appreciate an in-town POV.

Designing furniture for Ralph Lauren, I learned from Ralph himself how important it is to make spaces that make people feel.

In my work with Lillian August and collaborations with architects and other designers through the years, I learned the fine art of a detailed presentation.

As partner in Eriquez—Murphy Interior Design, my goal was to discover what every client loved about their home and to express that connection in our work—personal, unique, special.

I’ve worn many hats in my long association with Ethan Allen, including Executive Vice President of Style and Advertising. These days I’m happy to lend the company my expertise as an advisor, helming the creation of the big, beautiful Muses book in 2015 and currently directing the style of EA’s exciting new collab with Disney.

All the lessons I’ve learned and everywhere I’ve been come together in Nora Murphy Country House magazine and the Connecticut Country House blog. For me, country house isn’t so much a place as a state of mind – warm, relaxing, and deeply lovely. Interior design with a heart, it spills into the garden, the kitchen, the way I entertain—my life, 100%.
