To add a modern twist to a Country House interior, think black. Pepper touches of ebony hued accents and painted furniture throughout. In large doses, like my piano and bed, it makes a graphic statement that anchors and lends weight to a room. Smaller, more subtle elements – an accent chair, an inky tole lampshade, even hardware – the color black brings out the simple beauty of form and adds a certain elegance to any room.

Give it a try.

Happy decorating!

Love, Nora

Every room needs a bit of black! Your bedside lampshade is gorgeous, and I adore your flag above the bed. Did you design that? It speaks to me.

Touches of black in a room ‘make’ it! It’s like adding eyeliner or mascara to the eyes…makes them ‘pop’!

Looking through archives and would like to know if the fixture over the farm table is one of a kind or available? Re: January 19, 2016 blog post.
    Thanks for any information.

Hi Laurie! I found that years ago in a small shop. It is a reproduction 18th c. French Military chandelier. Love, Nora

    Nora,
Where did you find the dining room chairs? All I find is smaller versions of those chairs that are cheap or modernized
