There’s something about a smoothie that makes it the perfect summer weekend treat. So technically, we started our weekend yesterday morning when it was dark and rainy. No amount of coffee was doing the trick, so Murph offered up a tasty mid-morning solution – smoothies!

Seeing that we had gorgeous fresh local peaches and blueberries on hand – compliments of our friends Loanne and Maria’s gardens – as well as a big container of  Stonyfield vanilla yogurt, I guess it was a natural. My smoothie was so good, so refreshing and satisfying – it energized me. I had to share this quick and delicious concoction on facebook where my friend Danielle saw it, loved it, and asked if this recipe was on the blog or the new on-line magazine (if you haven’t checked it out yet – please do – noramurphycountryhouse.com)

Danielle, it is now!  Enjoy! (I think your girls will really love it too.)

Summer Smoothies for 2

2 small peaches or 1 large peach (with skin on, cut into pieces)

1 cup blueberries

1 1/2 cups OJ

8 ice cubes

1 cup vanilla yogurt

Mix together in a blender until smooth. Serve immediately.

(You can alter the ingredients and the amounts depending on your taste and what’s in season. Yesterday’s rainy day smoothie was a little more on the “peachy” side, where this morning’s was a little more blueberry. Only one word describes both: YUM.)

Have a great weekend!

Love, Nora
